DELTA LACROSSE ASSOCIATION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAM

This is the second year that the Delta Lacrosse Association has run an Elementary School Program in the Tsawwassen and Ladner area.  This year the leaders and mentors ran some lacrosse demonstrations/skill sessions for approximately 275 primary aged students at Cliff Drive Elementary, Ecole South Park Elementary and Neilson Grove Elementary over a two or three week period. 

Our volunteer leaders and mentors/helpers that participated were excited at the amount of development the children achieved in such a short time.  It was wonderful, on the association’s end, to see so many smiling faces as they were able to complete some of the skill sessions we were there to show them.  The children were able to scoop the ball, cradle a ball while running, throw a ball across the gym, and were able to throw the ball against the wall and have their peers catch the returned ball.

Our mentors were able to work with the younger children and not only be able to participate in an activity they love to do, but they also were able to learn a life lesson of the spirit of community and giving back.
